I was born in the 80s. Early 80s. (Yeah, I’m old…*sob*) So, 80s and 90s trivia about video games and music and all that good stuff makes my heart go pitter-pat. It also amuses me to remember the stuff from back then. That, of course, helped me fall in love with this book; it is FULL of references to 80s and 90s pop culture and lifestyle.

This was my first time reading any of Hilderbrand’s books and I must say I will be reading others. I absolutely devoured this book, reading it in less than a week (keeping in mind I work full time and go to school part-time!). I found the book and the characters in it captivating.
The small town of Paradise, Pennsylvania, is a jewel in Lancaster County — known for its picture-postcard landscapes and bucolic lifestyle. But that peace is shattered by the discovery of a dead infant in the barn of an Amish farmer. A police investigation quickly leads to two startling disclosures: the newborn’s mother is an unmarried Amish woman, eighteen-year-old Katie Fisher. And the infant did not die of natural causes. This absorbing, award-winning novel is part love story, part family drama, and part coming-of-age story in one compelling tale. If Taylor Markham can put together the pieces of her past and present, she might just be able to change her future.
